Principal Systems Engineer
A recruitment partner is seeking an experienced systems engineer to join a defence-focused engineering team. The successful candidate will provide systems engineering expertise across the early stages of complex weapons development, contributing to design solutions, leading work packages, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver systems engineering across the front end of the product lifecycle
  • Conduct requirements and use case analysis
  • Develop system architecture designs and functional models
  • Perform performance assessment and system behaviour analysis
  • Apply model-based engineering techniques including MBSE
  • Lead work packages and coordinate technical activities with stakeholders
Required Skills and Experience
  • Proven systems engineering experience in defence or aerospace projects
  • Strong knowledge of requirements management and use case development
  • Experience with system architecture and modelling tools
  • Ability to assess performance and system behaviour
  • Practical experience with MBSE techniques and frameworks
Desirable Skills
  • Verification, validation and certification experience
  • Experience managing work packages or engineering teams
  • Ability to manage technical relationships with suppliers or customers
Role Details
  • Location: Bristol, Stevenage or Bolton; Hybrid working (typically 3–4 days onsite)
  • Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
  • Role Type: Permanent
