Equipment Requirement Authority – Weapon Systems
Location: Bristol
Salary: £45,000 – £57,000 depending on experience
Working pattern: Hybrid and flexible working available
Security: British Citizen or Dual UK National with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. Successful applicants will need to obtain SC clearance.

Electus Recruitment Solutions is working with a leading organisation in the defence sector that is investing heavily in the development of next-generation weapon systems.
We are seeking Equipment Requirement Authorities to take responsibility for the technical delivery, requirements management, verification and certification of complex equipment and subsystems.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Systems Engineer, Design Engineer or experienced technical professional looking to move into a role combining engineering, technical project management and supplier engagement.
You will work across internal engineering teams and external design authorities and suppliers to ensure equipment is delivered to the required technical, quality, cost and schedule standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the technical status and progression of assigned equipment work packages
- Define and manage clear, accurate equipment requirements
- Work with internal and external Design Authorities to develop and agree technical solutions
- Manage technical trades across complex equipment and subsystem development
- Ensure compliance with relevant commercial, military and safety standards
- Develop verification and validation strategies across electrical, mechanical, software and wider system requirements
- Specify and collect technical evidence through testing and analysis
- Prepare certification evidence for equipment and weapon system trials or delivery
- Coordinate the flow of technical information between suppliers, engineering teams and procurement
- Maintain the safety, security and technical integrity of equipment throughout the development lifecycle
- Support and manage small technical teams where required
You could be an experienced Systems Engineer, Design Engineer, Equipment Engineer or Technical Lead with a background in complex engineering environments.
We are particularly interested in candidates with:
- A good understanding of engineering design processes and their application
- Experience with high-integrity hardware, networking technologies, custom electronics or complex mechanical systems
- Experience working with requirements, verification, validation or certification
- An understanding of relevant engineering, military or safety standards
- Experience coordinating technical work packages or working with external suppliers
- Previous team leadership or small-team management experience
