Weapon System Electrical Integration Architect
Location: Bristol
Salary: £48,000 – £53,000 depending on experience
Working pattern: Hybrid, typically 2–3 days per week onsite
Security: British Citizen or Dual UK National with British citizenship
The Opportunity
Are you an electrical or systems engineer looking to take ownership of electrical integration across a new complex, high-technology weapon system?
A leading defence organisation I support is looking for a Weapon System Electrical Integration Architect to act as the technical authority for electrical interfaces between the wider system and its equipment.
This is not a detailed circuit design role. Instead, you will own the bigger picture, bringing together electrical architecture, equipment integration, requirements, supplier delivery and system acceptance to ensure a coherent and compliant solution.
You will work closely with internal engineering teams and external suppliers, translating system-level requirements into clear electrical expectations and ensuring equipment is delivered, verified and accepted.

As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to obtain the required security clearance. To qualify for this level of clearance, applicants must be British Citizens or Dual UK Nationals with British citizenship.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical interface between the weapon system and equipment suppliers
- Ensure electrical compatibility and integrity between subsystems, equipment and the overall system architecture
- Define, manage and mature electrical requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Support system-level integration, verification and acceptance activities
- Own Statements of Work and manage technical delivery packages
- Lead technical reviews, progress meetings and project milestone gates
- Monitor supplier delivery against cost, schedule, performance and quality objectives
- Identify technical risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies
- Work collaboratively across systems, electrical, mechanical, software and power engineering disciplines
- Support decisions around equipment reuse, modification and new design
- Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards, regulations and certification requirements
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong systems engineering and system integration experience within complex products
- Experience defining and managing requirements at system, subsystem or equipment level
- A background in electrical integration, power distribution or electrical equipment design
- Experience working with external suppliers or managing technical delivery packages
- Understanding of verification, validation and certification processes
- Experience producing technical documentation and working within configuration-controlled environments
- A practical understanding of electrical systems, including wiring, power and electrical interfaces
- Experience within defence, aerospace, maritime or another highly regulated engineering environment would be advantageous
